Just east of the freeway near the town of Baker City,
Oregon lies a five acre field filled with aging, rusting tractor
implements, dilapidated farm trucks, ancient combines, and two steers
and a horse to keep the tall grass and weeds in check. The woman who
owns the property charged me two dollars to survey the carnage,
cautioning me to close the gate behind me so the animals didn't escape,
while I photographed it all to my hearts content. I moved about the
field with a critical eye focusing on intimate abstract images of
numerous pieces of farm equipment. These unique photographs capture
only a portion of the complete objects for an abridged pattern of
color, shape, and dark-light blending, creating spacial designs of their
own making. I'm not quite sure of the photo of the molded plastic hand
nailed to the shed. I am sure there is an interesting story, perhaps a
fascinating mystery involved with the image. |
